279SL- Spalted and Burled Silver Maple Log
This log was harvested June 2020 and has been stored out of the weather. It had some decay starting when it was cut, it hasent gotten worse. The log is solid with just a few semi soft spots in the sapwood can just barely push a fingernail into. The Burl sections are all solid. Has some drying cracks and there is a hollow spot on one end. One end is sealed with a few coats of spar urethane, the other with wood glue.
Approximately 12 inches diameter on the small end and 15 on the bigger end
17 3/4 inches long
There is a shallow chain saw cut in one of the burls, see photos.
These are beautiful rustic pieces with occasional chips, cracks, frayed edges, insect holes and trails, etc.
