c1950s, SIGNED MONA MORALES-SCHILDT, VENTANA GLASS VASE, FOR KOSTA SWEDEN, 6"
Description:
A stylish mid-Century glass vase designed by Mona Morales-Schildt for the Swedish Kosta glassworks, dating to the 1950s.
The vase, from the popular Ventana range (Spanish for "window") is formed of three layers of glass, a smokey quartz colour sandwiched between two clear glass layers. The hand blown piece is cut and polished into this striking design, panel cut to each side with a concave oval disc "window" cut to reveal the three layers. The lenses distort and refract the interior colour bubble, creating dramatic shifting perspective and lens effects as light passes through.
This authentic piece has the hand etched marker and catalog number, 'Kosta SS 212', 'M. SCHILDT' around the perfectly polished pontil.
