Class information: Pallasites are a rare and visually striking class of stony-iron meteorites, consisting of a network of Fe-Ni metal filled with crystals of olivine, which often appear as transparent yellow, amber, or greenish when cut and polished. They are thought to have formed at the core-mantle boundary of differentiated asteroids, where molten metallic iron from the core became mixed with silicate-rich mantle material. This unique combination makes pallasites important scientific samples for understanding planetary differentiation and internal structure, while their gem-like beauty has also made them some of the most highly prized meteorites among collectors.
