✅ "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫" 👑:
Charles Edward Louis John Casimir Silvester Maria Stuart was born in Rome on 31 December 1720, grandson of the deposed King James VII and II . He was raised as a king-in-waiting, and in December 1743, his father appointed him Prince Regent, giving him full authority to act in his name . In July 1745, he landed at Eriskay in the Scottish Highlands with just seven companions, determined to reclaim the throne .

✅ "𝐓𝐡𝐞 '𝟒𝟓 – 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠" ⚔️:
The 1745 rising was the last and most famous of five Jacobite challenges to the Hanoverian succession :

Key Events:

The Standard Raised – At Glenfinnan, in August 1745

Edinburgh Taken – The city quickly surrendered

Battle of Prestonpans (September 1745) – The Jacobite army defeated the government forces in Scotland

March South – Charles led his army to Derby in England, before turning back due to conflicting advice

The Final Defeat:

Battle of Culloden (16 April 1746) – The Jacobite army of 5,000 faced a government force of 9,000 commanded by the Duke of Cumberland

Decisive Defeat – Over 1,000 Jacobites were killed, and 1,000 taken prisoner

End of the Stuart Claim – The rebellion marked the effective end of the Stuart cause

✅ "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝" 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿:
After Culloden, Charles became the subject of one of the most celebrated escapes in history. Assisted by loyal supporters such as Flora MacDonald, he fled the country aboard a French frigate, returning to exile in September 1746 . His flight is commemorated in the popular folk song The Skye Boat Song . The image of the handsome prince in Highland dress was romanticised, turning him into a mythical figure in Scottish national memory .

✅ "𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐞" 🕊️:
Charles spent most of his life in exile, returning to Scotland only briefly after the rising. He died in Rome on 31 January 1788, and was first buried in Frascati. After his brother Henry's death in 1807, Charles's remains were moved to the crypt of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, where he rests alongside his father and brother . Despite the failure of his cause, his legend lives on, and he is still remembered as "Bonnie Prince Charlie," a symbol of the Jacobite dream .

✅ "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝" 🏛️:
This bust is inspired by the many artistic representations of Bonnie Prince Charlie, including the famous 18th-century portrait attributed to Sir Robert Strange, which shows him in a tartan jacket, bonnet, and cockade . The bust captures:

The youthful features – He was only 24 at the time of the rising

The charismatic expression – That inspired the Jacobite cause

The Stuart dignity – Reflecting his claim to the throne

✅ "𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬" 📖:

He spent just 14 months on British soil – During the 1745-46 rebellion

He was a "Bonnie" Prince – Contemporary accounts confirm his handsome and charming appearance in his youth

He never spoke to his father again – After 1766, due to a family dispute

The "Shortbread Tin" image – The classic Highlander portrait was painted 100 years after his death

His full name – Charles Edward Louis John Casimir Sylvester Maria Stuart

✅ "𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬" 💬:

"The greatest venture was not undertaken without risks." – Attributed to Bonnie Prince Charlie

"He was a failure, but he was a glorious failure." – Historian's verdict on Bonnie Prince Charlie
