Superb Vintage British Art Glass Diamond Trailed Lattice Decanter c1960. 25.3cm.

The body of the perfume bottle has a column-like shape, with a plain falred and shaped foot and broad shoulders. This is an applied trailed glass lattice perfume bottle, rather than a standard cut crystal bottle. Instead of cutting into thick glass, the maker manually spun fine, molten clear glass threads Known as ‘trails’, onto the exterior of the hand-blown cylinder to build up that tactile, diamond-mesh grid. The trails catch the light beautifully in a really dynamic way. This relief-based lattice work points away from commercial manufacturing and strongly suggests 20th-century Studio Art Glass. The British Studio Glass movement (which flourished from the 1970s onward) heavily favoured using clear, molten trailing to add surface texture to vanity items and perfume bottles. The stopper has a beautifully elegant hand blown tear drop final. The hand-drawn internal glass stem is a beautiful continuation of the studio art glass process.

The perfume bottle or decanter measures approx. 25.3cm tall with a 7.4cm diameter base.

The perfume bottle is without damage.
