History & Background
  • The Manufacturer: Strombecker (Strombeck-Becker) was originally famous for producing pre-carved solid pine wooden model kits. During the late 1950s, they transitioned into the emerging plastic model market to compete with brands like Monogram and Revell.
  • The Release: This specific kit, #D31-89, was originally released in 1957 as an all-plastic kit, making it one of Strombecker's early steps away from wood.
