Description A beautiful English antique early Victorian solid sterling silver pocket/presentation snuff box by David Pettifer (1847 - 1864) in lovely condition and with full English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1856. Excellent quality and a really nice unusual oval shape with attractive fluted edges; it has a hinged silver lid and is all-over decorated with foliate scroll engraving. Inside it is gilded and it measures approx 2.25 inches (56mm) x 1.65 inches (41mm) and is 0.45 inches (11mm) deep. Great silver box and as a bonus there are no added personal engraved presentation inscriptions.

Date English antique Victorian solid sterling silver with full English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1856, (date letter "H"). Good clear silver marks including the silver duty stamp of Queen Victoria and the silversmiths initials are "D P", (David Pettifer - 1847 - 1864).

Condition Lovely condition with no splits or repairs and no nasty knocks or dents, a beautiful genuine antique 170 year old example. The silver lid hinge still opens and closes securely, the original interior gilding is mostly intact. Very nice quality and a superb more uncommon oval shape. A fine early Victorian silver snuff box.
