Large Jacques-Louis David LE BÉLISAIRE Antique Reproduction. I am stumped with the print technique as the ink comes off on my finger, so is possibly an old charcoal, chalk or carbon reproduction printing technique? I am unsure of age, but it is certainly old, and I believe rare as I cannot find any other examples. It is large measuring 60.5cm x 47cm.
The paper has been mounted on material and at one stage appears it was nailed to a frame. There are some creases. There are a few dirt marks, namely white specks on the bottom left and a light brown toning line down the edge of the right side. There is some surface wear and edges have the most wear with small tears and creasing. There are some areas where the ink has rubbed in places causing some blurriness. This will look beautiful framed and it looks like a original old masters drawing.
