Programme
from the Palace Theatre in Hull for a night of variety entertainment during the
week of 27 July 1953 starring the comedian Frankie Howerd. Already a star as he
was given top billing, the bill also featured Bobbie Kimber the trans/drag
ventriloquist, Derrick Rosaire and his wonder horse Tony, and Max Geldray, the
electronic harmonica player who was a regular on The Goon Show. The eight-page
5” by 7.5” programme is in fair condition with loose pages, staining from absent
rusty staples and annotations on the front cover. Also on the bill were Jill
Jill and Jill, the two Alfreros, Lee Young, Kim Peacock, Sunny Rogers, juggler Rita
Martell and Madame Blanchie Moore.
