The 600th Bombardment Squadron was a World War II U.S. Army Air Forces heavy bomber squadron, flying B‑17 Flying Fortresses as part of the 398th Bombardment Group under the Eighth Air Force in England. It served from 1943–1945, conducting strategic bombing missions over Nazi‑occupied Europe.
The 600th Bombardment Squadron was activated 1 March 1943 as one of the four squadrons of the 398th Bombardment Group (Heavy). Its mission: strategic bombing of German industry, transportation, oil production, and military targets using the B‑17.
