Original group of documents relating to the Royal National Life-Boat Institution 150th Anniversary Garden Party held at Buckingham Palace on 16 July 1974 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

The principal invitation bears the E II R royal cypher and reads:

"The Lord Chamberlain is commanded by Her Majesty to invite Mrs R. G. Leaf to an Afternoon Party in the Garden of Buckingham Palace to mark the 150th Anniversary of the Royal National Life-Boat Institution on Tuesday, the 16th July 1974, from 4 to 6 p.m."

An excellent surviving group rather than an isolated invitation, including associated paperwork concerning arrangements for the event.

- Her Majesty's Garden Party instruction card
- Buckingham Palace car / windscreen instruction label
- RNLI Buckingham Palace Afternoon Party correspondence dated 1 July 1974

- Lord Chamberlain envelope addressed to Mrs R. G. Leaf, Kenilworth, Warwickshire
- Coventry Ladies' Guild identification badge / label
- Associated material as shown in the photographs

The RNLI paperwork gives interesting details of the arrangements for the event, including dress, travelling arrangements, lapel badges, the Royal Family's arrival, presentation arrangements and the afternoon timetable.

The documents have been stored folded and show expected age-related handling wear, creasing, minor marks and discolouration. The Lord Chamberlain envelope has tearing to the rear flap from opening.
