Books are in mixed condition. All are readable and usable but show many signs of use/age. SPECIAL NOTE: Volumes 9 and 10 have some water damage (Please see pics.) Covers have wear and abrasion from handling, the labels on the spine are flaking off with handling. Plenty of foxing and age fading. Spines are holding together well but some covers have a bit of separation from the binding inside the first few cover pages. Insides of the books are mostly clean but there are occasional pencil notes written in the margins, mostly dates when someone read each secttion. Books are usable but delicate given their age. This was a very limited edition run of 750 issued by G.P. Putnam and Sons in 1892. This is a matching set (hand) numbered to 158 / 750.
