Interesting and Dimensional wall plaque from Marmaris Turkey featuring an elaborate maritime scene associated with the legendary Colossus of Rhodes.
The central figure appears to represent Helios, the Greek sun god, shown in the traditional artistic depiction of the Colossus standing across the harbor entrance while a sailing ship (with real paper sails) passes beneath him.
Although labeled "Marmaris", the imagery likely reflects the close geographical and travel connection between the Turkish port of Marmaris and the nearby Greek island of Rhodes.

The plaque has deeply textured surfaces and applied dimensional elements. The sailing ship includes individually formed sails and slender wooden mast details. An ornate floral border surrounds the central scene in muted lavender, blue, cream, ochre and brown tones.
