Rare vintage black plastic piggy bank from the mid 20th century used as a promotional coin bank to raise money for the American Miission to Lepers. The pig is named "Pete" after a piglet in 1913 that a boy sold and donated all the proceeds to the Mission. He had been inspired by a Presbyterian missionary's presentation in his hometown in Kansas. The pig is 4.5" long and 3" tall. Empty, it weighs 2.5 oz. There is an old strong piece of tape holding the two sides of the haunch area together.
