6 Arizona Kitty Kat Magazines 1958-59 University Arizona Campus Humor Vintage

An exceptionally scarce group of six original 1958-1959 issues of the Arizona Kitty Kat, the University of Arizona's historic campus magazine. Rather than a single stray issue, this lot represents a substantial portion of one school year, with all six magazines surviving in excellent condition more than 65 years later.

The Arizona Kitty Kat was founded in 1925 and published by the Associated Students of the University of Arizona as an official student-body publication. Contemporary records indicate a circulation of only about 2,000 copies, making surviving issues—particularly groups like this—far less common than the nationally distributed magazines of the period.

The Kitty Kat chronicled University of Arizona campus life through humor, cartoons, photography, articles and features. Today these magazines provide a fascinating snapshot of college life, student culture and Arizona history during the late 1950s.

This lot includes six different issues:

• September 1958 – Registration Issue
• October 1958 – Mom & Dad's Day Issue
• November 1958 – Homecoming Issue
• December 1958 – Christmas Issue
• April 1959 – "An Architect Speaks"
• May 1959 – Rodeo Issue

All six magazines are in excellent condition, particularly impressive considering their age.

The Homecoming, Rodeo, Registration, Mom & Dad's Day and Christmas issues have additional appeal because they document specific University of Arizona traditions and events of the period.

With an original circulation of only approximately 2,000 copies, these were never mass-market magazines. After nearly seven decades, finding six different issues from the same 1958-1959 school year together and in this condition is an unusual opportunity.
