On offer is a small collection of polished stone ornaments / miniature vases. These came to me as part of a collection of vintage Cornish Serpentine stone that I purchased from a local auction. I'm not sure how old the items are, but would think they date to around the 1980s. The collection contained some items produced by C & D Pitman, and Ian Casley, both from The Lizard, Cornwall. Both men are well known craftsmen who worked with Serpentine. There is no makers name on any of these items. I'm not a collector of this type of thing so I'll just describe what I see. If I've missed anything important please let me know. Please take a good look at the pictures as they form a large part of the item description.

The beautiful highly polished items are in grey, green, brown or red colour Serpentine stone as pictured. They all have contrasting markings in shades of charcoal, cream and red. It's really hard to describe, and it's very beautiful. The tallest is the fish at about 6cm (2½") tall. The heaviest is the dark grey & white piece (possibly a candle holder?) at about 200gms. The two small square items have a green felt pad on the bottom.

The pieces are well made, and look good quality, but sadly some items have damage. I've tried to mention everything that is wrong. The largest dark grey & white item (candle holder?) has a small patch of roughness to the top edge, but it doesn't really notice. The lighter grey/green vase has 2 small chips at the flared top edge. They grey & white vase has been broken and glued back together, but a tiny piece is missing. The darker of the eggs has what looks like white scratch marks. One of the square dishes has a minute white edge nick to it. The rest are undamaged, but may have some very light signs of handling.

These pretty little pieces display beautifully, and will make a very nice addition to any collection.
