Up for auction here is a rare letter from William T. Dortch (1824-1889) of Goldsboro to Thomas L. Maner (1811-1872) of Battleboro dated June 30, 1869. Dortch was a successful lawyer, member of state house and senate in Wayne County, and a member of the Confederate States of America Senate, 1862-1865. Maner at one time lived in Edgecombe County and was a planter and cotton merchant. Dortch is advising Maner about a dispute over some property. The letter  is in very fine shape. Good luck.
