Messerschmitt Bf 109E-7, Werk Nr. 5930, was flying with 5./JG 52 over Kent on 20th October 1940 when it was intercepted by RAF Spitfires. The aircraft was shot down during the engagement, with the victory generally credited to Flying Officer M.P. “Peter” Brown of No. 41 Squadron. Feldwebel Ludwig Bielmeier managed to bale out and landed safely near West Malling, where he was taken prisoner. The unmanned Bf 109 continued on before crashing into Mereworth Woods, where it was largely destroyed.

The section has been recently re-finished in the correct RLM04 yellow, with modern hand painted artwork featuring the remains of the "Vorsicht Beim Offnen" - Caution When Opening warning label. All undertaken to a very high standard, professional quality finish.

The piece has been provided with a bespoke 3D printed stand and information plaque. Really stands out as part of a larger collection.

The piece was removed from a much larger section of engine cowling still retained within my collection.

The relic measures approx. 33 x 11.5cm

A completely unique piece, entirely bespoke.

Looks fantastic on display, I'll be sad to see this one leave the collection.
