The 70's seems like it was more laid-back mellow times! The 1970s had a bevy of trends.  Disco was king, Jaws menaced young gen-xers at the movie theater and everybody was on roller skates. No home in the 70s would be complete without linoleum floors or shag carpet, wood paneling on the walls, a bean bag chair or two in the rec room, a crocheted blanket, lava lamp, tv dinners and some Pyrex® dishes used to serve casseroles. The retro style was bohemian chic crossed with an extension of mid-century modern. A great way to describe The Un-Candle. Made in the US in the mid-70's by Corning, it was part of the 1970's retro home decor trend providing the beauty of candlelight without the bother or expense of candles.

The Un-candle is a safety-focused alternative to traditional wax candles, designed to burn liquid vegetable oil resting on a layer of water. instead of wax. It uses floating candle holders with specially designed plastic floats, Flam'buoyant® wicks and a glass vessel to create a stable, long-lasting flame. The floats have air pockets that allow consistent fuel flow to the wick and automatically extinguishes when fuel runs out.

The Un-Candle will change the atmosphere of the room with the flicker of the flame. Model 146, 'Mates' include two glass holders. Designed with a sleek, low-profile sculptural silhouette, gives a modern minimalist aesthetic that will play well with others.
