This auction is for the pretty Victorian pin pictured. I believe this is definitely 19th century. The eagle mark that it bears was first used in 1838. This piece is in very good condition. There are no chips from the stone but there is an occlusion coming inward at the bottom. This is inside and does not appear to have been started by a chip or other damage to either side or the edge in that area. This is surprising as this is not a very thick stone as you can see. Though certainly not overall this brooch has only the lightest of scratches. This brooch is of good size measuring 1 3/4” by 1 1/2” and is 1/2” from front to back. It is clearly marked with the French eagle assay mark on the pin. I have a photograph of it on the scale showing its weight of 14.2 grams.
