Vintage Meiji Era Multi-Color Woodblock Prints - Set of 8 from Shinshu Region, Japan
This rare and beautiful collection features eight multi-color woodblock prints dating from around 1907 (Meiji 40). Originating from the Shinshu region (Inna, Matsumoto, Iida), these prints were used for advertising purposes by local kimono shops, footwear stores, postal box companies, art dyeing, and confectionery businesses. The prints were printed and issued by Taketaro Furu-jima and Tokujiro Furu-jima of Osaka in the late Meiji period (around 1894-1912).
