THIS IS A STUNNING AND RARE WW1 1917-18 BRITISH MILITARY ROLEX "ASPREY" OFFICERS TRENCH HALF HUNTER WATCH IN SILVER.
DESCRIPTION.
This is a beautiful WW1 Military Trench Officers Rolex wristwatch in silver. I have been dealing for 35 years in early Rolex and bought 100s of Rolex trench models but never a Half Hunter Rolex sold by the world famous Asprey of London. I have chosen not to touch the watch and to leave it in its original state with out any restoration except the movement being serviced as most collectors would appreciate that it has not been fully restored and the case polished.
This model of Rolex would have been sold to British military personnel during World War One.
The condition of this Rolex for being 100 years old is good with normal age related wear to the case.
The stunning original Enamel dial still retains the jewellers name "Asprey" who would have sold it new. It has the military type dial and hands and oozes that ww1 charm.
The wonderful Rolex movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker in the past 3 months.
Please note: watches of this age even when serviced may gain or lose up to 60-120 seconds in 24 hours what is acceptable for a 100 year old watch.
To complete this fantastic piece, we've put it on a new good quality leather strap.
CASE.
The solid silver flip up top Half Hunter case is in good condition for its age with age related marks to the bezel. The full size gents case measures 34mm across without the winding crown. The top flips up with press button function what is in-between the lugs at 6 o’clock. The case is unpolished and has its original tarnish to it. At the time of taking the pictures the watch has no watch glass but the watch will be sold with both glasses on it.
Inside the case back all the marks are correct as expected:
Rolex, W&D, Swiss Made & fully hallmarked.
DIAL.
The original enamel dial still retains the Jewellers name Asprey to the dial who would have sold it new. This model looks simply stunning.
The dial is signed: Rolex, Swiss Made, Depose.
MOVEMENT.
The high grade movement is in very good condition and has been fully serviced. The movement is signed: Rolex.

Like most vintage wristwatches what are over 100 years old the original certificate has been lost or discarded over the years. But even though this watch does not have its original certificate. This watch, the reference numbers, markings, signatures and hallmarks are all correct, dating the watch to circa 1917-18.
