Published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), this map was produced as a special edition supplement to the Revista Brasileira de Geografia and provides a fascinating snapshot of Brazil at the beginning of the Vargas era. Printed in colour at a scale of 1:6,500,000, the map depicts state boundaries, railways, commercial and military air routes, administrative divisions and contemporary geographical information together with statistical tables relating to the 1940 census.
