Vintage Smiths English Clocks Ltd 8 Day Mantel Clock

A beautiful vintage Smiths English Clocks Ltd mantel clock, proudly made in England and housed in its original solid wood case with attractive natural grain.

Featuring the sought-after 8-day mechanical balance movement and the original "SMITHS ENGLISH CLOCKS LTD. CRICKLEWOOD LONDON" dial, this is an excellent example of a classic British mantel clock.

Unlike traditional pendulum clocks, this model uses a balance movement, making it much less sensitive to positioning after transport. Simply wind the built-in key and enjoy reliable operation without the need to install or adjust a pendulum.

The movement has been cleaned and lubricated with specialist clock oil and is in full working order.

Historical Detail

The movement carries a "JAN 1943" service/inspection marking, adding to the clock's historical character and offering an interesting glimpse into its long working life. While this marking is not presented as the manufacturing date, it is a genuine period feature that enhances the authenticity and collectability of the clock.
