Prospectus et Pagi Sinensis. == Un Lac et Village de la Cochinchine.

Description: Striking and highly detailed fine unusual 1760 copper engraved so-called optical view of the village of Yang-ka and its lake, into the ancient region of Cochinchina (present-day southern Vietnam). The architectural and ethnic details blend real elements drawn from historical travel accounts (such as those of the Dutch East India Company) with styles of pure Western and exotic fantasy of the time. Several inhabitants, sailing ships and reverse title to the upper side complete the view.

The Vues d'optique were specifically developed to provide the illusion of depth when viewed through a zograscope, also known as an "optical diagonal machine" or viewers with similar functions.
