A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Crucilobiceras densinodulum from the world famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.

The fossil measures 110 mm (4.3 inches) across with matrix, which is a huge size for this species and as big as they get! The matrix of this fossil represents the crushed outer whorl of the ammonite, meaning the whole fossil is the original size of the shell. The ammonite is very well preserved and has good detail in the ribbing. A beautiful fossil that is packed full of detail. The sheer size of this example makes this a real one-off fossil.

These large examples are uncommon and hard to find these days.

Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
