Description: Striking and highly detailed fine unusual original colored lithographic historical map of the Congo-Océan Railway (Chemin de fer Congo-Océan), a key colonial railway in French Equatorial Africa.
Map Details:
Route: The map illustrates the entire railway line connecting the port of Pointe-Noire (on the Atlantic Ocean, on the left) with the capital Brazzaville (located on the Congo River, on the far right).
Borders: The words "Congo Belge" (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) are clearly visible in the lower right, marking the southern border along the river.
Historical Purpose: This line was built between 1921 and 1934 to bypass the rapids of the Congo River and allow the transport of goods from the interior of the continent to the ocean coast.
Section Cartographique: Indicates the colonial technical office responsible for cartographic production (partially readable as Section Cartographique of the Ministry of the Colonies or of the local military command).

Condition: Very strong and dark impression on good paper. Map original colored. Wide margins. Small foxing and browning. Tear at the lower side near central fold. Map folded. Conditions are as you can see in the images.
