The sale also includes several choice examples from our dear friend the late Chinese art scholar and collector Mr.Pao. Mr. Pao was internationally known and highly regarded as a knowledgeable Chinese art scholar, collector and dealer with a passion for Ming and pre-Ming ceramics. Mr.Pao owned a high-end Chinese art gallery that was within the Four Seasons hotel in Toronto.

A large and impressive example from the H.H.Pao collection.

This extraordinary vase was made during the first part of the Qing dynasty commonly referred to as the Transition to early Kangxi period, c1620-1650. The vase has an interesting beaker form that was popular during this period. The vase is of a large size measuring 17 1/4 inches tall. The vase has an interesting period design that includes figures within a landscape.

The vase was noted in the collection as being purchased at Sotheby’s, New York during the 1990’s. The vase is fully guaranteed to be authentic and of the period. As our estate auctions have run for over 20 years here online this rare early blue & white vase is being offered Without Reserve!

Condition: Upon very close inspection we did find a 4-5 inch very light hairline to the mid-interior wall. This line is only seen from the inside of the vase and is very hard to spot. It does not carry through to the vase exterior. This leads us to believe it may be an original kiln flaw. The vase is otherwise in extraordinary good original condition considerings is age of around 380 years old with no chips, and no repairs. The vase sits stable and straight on its foot. UV light reveals no hidden damage. In our opinion of investment grade.

Size: The Vase measures an impressive 17-1/2 inches tall by 8-1/2 inches wide across the top.
