Per usual, I like to start the week's auctions off with something special, and I think this one fits that bill! Additionally, this week I'm doing a bit of a blitz and you'll notice I have extra pipes listed and ending every 5 minutes instead of 10 in my "second hour" so I hope you'll find that special pipe you've been looking for as I have a lot of awesome stuff this week! Over the years I can recall only once having a Charatan Coronation and once having a Charatan Crown Achievement and I can say without a doubt this Supreme S has far superior straight grain than either of them! A truly magnificent piece of briar in every sense of the word indeed. Grading was known to be all over the place with Charatan, especially during the Lane Era. The Supreme S not long after this pipe was made was further subdivided into 3 grades in ascending order; 100, 200 and 300, marketing genius from Herman Lane and the price tags on these Charatan Supreme "S" were astounding in their day! Charatan reigned king with their Dublins and every variation you can imagine with this one an awesome sitter with a rough cut faux plateau rim and received the "Extra Large" designation as the pipe is rather long. It fits in hand like a glove, beautifully formed with massive walls surrounding a generous conical chamber. As the bowl tapers down we find a touch of Acorn point at the heel while to the rear a crisp transition to a quarter bent long sturdy round shank that again is flat on the bottom and extends to meet the original vulcanite Double Comfort stem with CP logo crisp and Reg# faded but still visible. Finish is a rich golden contrast and as previously mentioned the straight grain here is simply remarkable. I have seen a lot of straight grain pipes in my time and this pipe ranks amongst the best wrapping 360 degrees and showing exceptional depth! Overall clean throughout, this vintage high grade is ready to enjoy!

Domestic is $12 via USPS Priority.
International: If you are registered with the Global Shipping Program, the cost for pipes under $500 in value is $10 to ship to eBay's shipping center and then the customs fees/tariffs are calculated there and up to the buyer if they are charged up front or on the back end once processed. Due to an almost 25% increase for Express and Priority Shipping, I am switching back to First Class for $25 moving forward to all international destinations. Express or Priority is available upon request, as is insurance. Any lost parcels will be refunded upon insurance payout.

Restoration Methods: I have been restoring pipes for 17 years and have taken bits and pieces from many guys whom I consider the best there ever was in the business and built upon it with my own experience and tricks of the trade. Each pipe is first cleaned by removing all cake, making the chamber smooth and round again if necessary, removing all gunk in the shank and stem with alcohol, then exterior cleaning and polishing of the stummel and stem with no oxidation left but at the same time leaving the vulcanite or acrylic and any logos intact. My restorations end with the pipe looking like new and being completely free from previous signs of use. I do not use salt/alcohol treatments in my bowls but rather if the pipe smells of prior tobacco I will put it in my ozone chamber to make neutral. Lastly, many guys ask me "how are your pipes so shiny!!??" I lightly use the fluffy edge of my white diamond buffing wheel to clean and restore stummels which removes all grime and oils while restoring the original factory luster. I then hand buff and finish with a flannel wheel with high quality carnauba applying multiple coats as they do at the factory as well. This results in the pipe looking as new and will keep it's finish with a simple terry cloth hand buffing at home. Enjoy!
