DESCRIPTION: Buyer will receive the EXACT Wabanaki/Penobscot carved Birch Bark round Box shown in the photographs. Nothing else included or implied.

The box’s seams are stitched with sinew. The lid’s rim is woven sweet grass braid over-wrapped with sinew. It has a hand carved mallard duck on lid . Signed on the wooden bottom. This one is really nice, and it’s a great size for display.

I purchased 15 or 20 of these in all shapes and sizes. They are all vintage. They are from the Sebego Lake / Long Lake region in Maine and were made for the tourist trade, presumably mid to late 20th Century.

SIZE: 6” diameter x 2.5” tall

CONDITION REPORT: Used. Great condition, but the inside lid wood (looks like red cedar) has a tight crack along the grain (photographed). It doesn’t appear to affect the box at all, it is still tight and sturdy. Nice looking vintage birch bark box.

As always due to age and prior usage, the item may have slight imperfections such as minor scuffs, scratches, trim wear, and/or slight manufacturing defects. Please view all photos as they are part of this condition report. Ask questions prior to purchase.
