Model - Ausf N. The Panzer III was a medium class tank that played a very important role until the advent of more heavily armored and up-gunned enemy tanks after 1942. Then its role became secondary to that of the Panzer IV and production finally ceased in 1943. It still served in quick reconnaissance, screening and more highly mobile missions in support of the heavier Panzer IV and the Tiger I.
