Rare Antique 46-Star American Flag – Oklahoma Statehood Era – 103” x 62”

Offered is an authentic antique 46-star United States flag measuring approximately 103 inches x 62 inches.

This is a true piece-and-sewn American flag dating to the 1908–1912 Oklahoma Statehood era, when the 46-star flag served as the official flag of the United States. The 46-star design became official on July 4, 1908, following Oklahoma’s admission to the Union, and remained official until July 3, 1912, before the 48-star flag replaced it after New Mexico and Arizona achieved statehood.

Unlike later printed flags, this example features individually double-appliqué sewn cotton stars, fully sewn stripes, heavy wool/cotton bunting construction, and a sturdy canvas header with original brass grommets.

The stars display beautiful early craftsmanship with individually cut points and period stitching, giving the flag exceptional visual appeal and authentic early 20th-century character.

Large sewn 46-star flags are considerably scarcer than later 48-star examples due to their brief four-year official period and remain highly sought after by collectors of early American flags and Americana.

This flag has not been cleaned or restored and remains exactly as acquired from an estate, preserving its original patina and historical integrity.
