Pretty Grain, Great Condition
"S" & "R" stands for Steve and Roswitha Anderson, husband and wife team out of Columbus, Ohio. Steve made primarily high-quality classic pipes and passed away March 2009, and Rose makes mostly freehands, both of very high quality. Their regular pipes range from $65 to $300, and they have some specials that run into several thousand (such as a 7-day set, all straight grain with curved smoke-holes).
When Steve and Roswitha Anderson were married, they not only formed a lasting partnership, but they also became a dynamic pipe-carving duo. Members of the prestigious Confrerie des Maitres-Pipiers de Saint-Claude, France, the Andersons have received worldwide recognition for their work.
This pipe is a lightly bent apple with smooth and rusticated finish. Bowl shows no noted wear, rounded top rim. Inside is nicely seasoned from moderate use. The draw hole comes in at the bottom center, and it draws easy, should be a fine smoker. The stem is made of vulcanite, with light tooth wear showing. Weighs about 1.4 ounce.
