This is a   STANGL  #3689  Early Pennsylvania Covered Jar

6" high

(1942-1948)

Pot/Lid will Grade VG+ "typical Stangl imperfections", 4th pic shows a 1/4" "brown nick" ,it was completely glazed at Factory, see other pics for imperfections.

Marked on bottom: STANGL Pottery  Terra Rose Trenton NJ

Signed on bottom: "designed by Kay Hackett in 1942", In Kay's hand.

Enclosed is a 6" X 4" card, two sided provenance stating:

 "this piece was bought in 1946 by Lillian Aldinger for her Grandson for when he got Married in 1968 in Flemington, NJ. I knew Kay and she signed the bottom because she was the person who designed it, Also she signed card to show another of her designs. Jauis? 2022  I believe it was part of a canister set. Terra Rose Blue Tulip is the design name.  Could not find such a piece, so it must be rare"      (This written by Lillian Aldinger, dated 2002}

Included is a 3" x 5" Provenance card, with hand drawn Thistle drawing done and signed Oct2004 for Jauis?             Kay Hackett

I purchased this Jar/Lid 6 or 7 years ago, at an Estate Sale in Toms River, N.J.
