The Peoples Tea, Spice & Baking Powder Co. was a historic grocery and supply business based on Walnut Street in Cincinnati, Ohio. Like many spice merchants of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they occasionally produced promotional recipe booklets and trade cards to advertise their dry goods and leavening agents.
These vintage cookbooks were largely intended to drive sales of their specific products by offering customers reliable, household-tested baking recipes that made use of their tea, spices, and baking powder.
Because these were promotional advertising materials distributed as local ephemera rather than mainstream published books, physical surviving copies are quite rare today. Often, these vintage booklets turn up as highly sought-after antiques or collectible paper items on auction sites like eBay
It shows a decent amount of wear as shown, but then again it is a, roughly 135 year old rare cookbook.
Ebay only allows a 24 picture maximum, so I tried to use my pictures allotment as best as possible to tell the story of this old antique cookbook / household management book. I took many more pictures, but couldn't use them.
I found two dates on it as shown. 1890 and 1892.
