for sale is an Antique D F Barber Boston auger brace drill bit Patented August 3rd 1880.. It is a countersink bit and a spoke pointer bit. At first I thought  the bit has the lever handle to  put the counter sink cutter is a storage capacity to protect the  cutter during non-use storage. When I searched the patent for this auger bit it has it in a  spoke pointer category (see last picture) My thinking  the tool would break if used as a spoke pointer. Because of the spoke pointer factor, this tool probably always broke. The cutter is thin sheet metal.. The lever release handle still has the spring action return.. The patent date is really strong , so this tool saw little use in an brace chuck..  Please see all pictures for condition. Ask questions before you bid any information will be appreciated.
