The advantages of Unswitched Sockets are many especially when items are designed to be plugged in and switched on at all times such as fridges and freezers, audiovisual/computer equipment and smart devices which do not want to be accidentally turned off.
Another situation  where lack of power could be hazardous is power supplies to mobility equipment such as electric recliner chairs, beds, stairlifts, bath aids etc... and how many times have you waited for the kettle to boil only to find someone has turned it off at the socket!
