  • Origin & Kiln: Arita-yaki (有田焼 - Arita Ware), Saga Prefecture, Japan. 1970's.

  • Artist / Sign: Hand-painted in blue underglaze on the base: Kōhō (光峰) beneath the Arita-yaki stamp.

  • Form & Design: A faceted, hexagonal ovoid body tapering up to a sharp hexagonal rim and down to a matching foot. The exterior features a highly tactile, ruggedly ribbed "stratified rock" or chiseled bark texture.

  • Glaze & Color Palette: A dynamic expression of tones featuring a glossy cream/white glaze draped over an iron-rich, heavily textured brown body, accented by pools of deep cobalt blue/black underglaze in the deep crevices. The interior is finished in a smooth, clean pale glaze.
