Antique RARE Arctic Freezer crank ice cream
maker 1 QT capacity
Description: This is an authentic antique 1-quart Arctic
Ice Cream Freezer, which was manufactured for and sold through Sears,
Roebuck & Co. around the late 19th to early 20th century. If you have small
space or display shelves, this is the ice cream freezer for you! These are hard
to find; in our many years of antiquing this is the only one we found and we
snatched it up.
The Arctic Freezer was a major proprietary brand marketed
by Sears during the Victorian era. The
Slat Bucket was made using New England white pine staves held together by
iron hoops. The drainage hole on the side allows melted salt-ice water to
escape during churning so it doesn't overflow into the ice cream canister. The Hardware is heavy cast iron gears
and frame. The stamping on the handle or top housing reads "Arctic" Pat.
Dec 3 1889.
Dimensions: The
wood bucket is approx. 7 ½” tall and bottom diameter is 6 ½”. The complete
maker is approx. 9 ¼” tall and 11 ¼” wide including the handle. Capacity of the
canister is 4 cups = 1 quart.
Maker’s Mark: embossed
on the top hardware: “Arctic”
