This listing is a set of historical gold prospectors gold scales from the Alaska Gold Rush era. These scales would have been used by gold miners to weigh and measure their gold nuggets during the historic gold rush in Alaska. As a collectible item, these scales hold historical significance and would be a valuable addition to any collection of historical memorabilia related to the gold rush period.

Special note: has a period hand written note adhered to the lid that reads " OLD PROSPECTORS GOLD SCALES FOUND IN DESERTED CABIN IN ALASKA GIVER LOUISE TURNER BY MR. HALL AT PIEDMONT WASHINGTON,  1918 WHILE ON OLYMPIC PENINSULA DURING ES! (?) ARMY SERVICE "

very cool indeed 😎.  Mr. Hall was a prominent homsteder there with ties to lumber trade so says AI also piedmont is or was a ww1 military base. Google has much to offer about this area and this time in history.

Condition report: remarkably the pans have the original twisted rope that is broken at the hook part and one string going through the pan is broken the box lid and an antique repair to a split across the front section the original tray that would hold the original weights is missins as in the weights themselves and apparently they uses some old square nails as weights. There must have been a stand that screwed into the nut on the top that is also missing.

Measurements: box is 8 inches long 1.25 inches tall and 3.5 inches front to back
