Collector's Notes:  Nice sample of an S1, W2, H4 class meteorite to fill our your collection.  This piece has an unusual horn shape. The saw cut face shows many small relatively well defined chondrules.  Piece still has the classification label from the process.

Class information:  H4 chondrites are part of the "High-Iron" ordinary chondrite group and carry a petrologic type?4 signature, meaning they have experienced moderate thermal metamorphism on their parent asteroid. They typically contain high content with much of it free metal. The chondrules remain visible but show partial equilibration of mineral compositions. The once?fine matrix has started to recrystallized around these chondrules, and metal?sulfide grains are being homogenized. This process likely occurred with temperatures in the 700?°C range. As a result, H4s preserve both primary chondrule textures and the record of early parent?body heating, making them valuable for studying the protoplanetary disk?s chemistry and the thermal history of small Solar System bodies.
