1982 Union Oil Los Angeles Dodgers Portraits Complete Set of 26 by Nicholas Volpe - NEAR MINT-MINT condition. This is an outstanding portrait set that combines two of America's greatest passions; baseball and wonderful art. Each of the 26 portraits feature members from the 1982 L.A. Dodgers. The portraits, each 8-1/2" x 11", were produced by famed sports artist Nicholas Volpe, who had previously produced L.A. Dodger portrait sets in both 1962, 1964 and 1969. Volpe also produced similar sets for many other sports teams, and in 1962, he did an outstanding portrait set of Academy Award Winners (best actor and actress) from 1928-1961. There are two Hall of Famers in this 1982 Union Oil Los Angeles Dodgers set: manager Tommy Lasorda and broadcaster Vin Scully. In addition to Lasorda, there are at least four current or former MLB managers in the set: Mike Scioscia, Dusty Baker, Bill Russell, and Ron Roenicke. The other 20 portraits in this outstanding set are Mark Belanger, Ron Cey, Terry Forster, Steve Garvey, Pedro Guerrero, Burt Hooton, Steve Howe, Ken Landreaux, Mike Marshall, Rick Monday, Jose Morales, Tom Niedenfuer, Jorge Orta, Jerrry Reuss, Steve Sax, Dave Stewart, Derrel Thomas, Fernando Valenzuela, Bob Welch, and Steve Yeager. Keep in mind, this is not a partial set of these great portraits; THIS IS THE COMPLETE SET OF 26. Again, this nearly 40 year-old set is in NEAR MINT-MINT condition and hard to find in such pristine shape. These all come out of fresh cases of the individual players that have never been touched. No collection of Los Angeles Dodger memorabilia is complete without this wonderful set of portraits. Check out the scan for some examples from this set. You won't be disappointed.
