Danish Design Icon Lands in Japan!

Lyngby Porcelain is a staple you can’t go a day without seeing on Nordic-themed overseas Instagram accounts.

Here we present the Lyngby Vase, the brand's representative product.

This handmade flower vase embodies authentic craftsmanship with its simple yet stylish Nordic design.

Its slender silhouette, elegant texture, and ribbed pattern enhance the beauty of the flowers placed inside.

But this vase is more than just stylish.

It carries a long and rich history.

Lyngby Porcelain was founded in 1936 in Lyngby, just north of Copenhagen, Denmark.

While the Lyngby Vase is now considered a basic design, it originally stood out in the 1930s when it was introduced.

At that time, vases heavily adorned with decorations were the norm.

Influenced by Germany’s Bauhaus, the design sought beauty in the form itself rather than in decoration, surprising many.

In fact, it seems this design was ahead of its time and initially wasn’t well received, but its simple beauty and functionality gradually gained popularity by the 1950s, establishing a solid place in Danish design history.

However, the brand's story continued.

In 1969, the factory unexpectedly closed! (Details are unclear)

It became a legendary brand, with original pieces becoming hard to find even at flea markets.

Then, after a long time, the factory reopened in 2012.

The Lyngby Vase went back into production, leading to its current popularity.

Wow, what a tumultuous brand history!

For the people of Denmark, who have witnessed this history over generations, it must be a much-loved item.

Reflecting on the brand’s story, we encourage you to display it in your own room!
