Here's a beautiful, solid brass Smith & Beck microscope, manufactured at 6 Coleman Street in London in early 1850's. With a serial number of 804, the microscope is signed on the tube and on several of the brass lens cases. It is clean and complete, and it comes in its original polished mahogany cabinet, which houses more than 2 dozen accessories.
Condition overall is excellent. Clear optics. Undamaged mirror. Clean lacquered brass everywhere. All of the knurled adjustment screws turn easily, and the parts move smoothly as they're adjusted. Cabinet and microscope are original throughout, and the cabinet retains its original lock and key.
With tube fully extended, microscope's maximum height is approximately 20″. Cabinet (closed) measures 17″ x 9″ x 6″.
