Similar to the well-known 1814 and 1820 Bust dime varieties, on the BD-2 half eagle STATES and OF were entered too close together so that it appears as one word rather than the intended two. BD-2 is scarce, though a bit more available than its BD-1 and BD-3 alternatives. Handsome surfaces are crisply defined, save for the on-the-shoulder curl, the claws, and the crest of the wings, as is often the case on this issue. A base of warm medium gold is overlaid in dappled orange and olive hues for an original overall appearance. Free of any mentionable abrasions, the astute gold collector will certainly take note of this important offering! - Capped Bust $5
