Cox Thermal Hopper Gas Model Airplane Engine Control Line Free Flight 049

Classic 1/2 A engine. Still in original bubble pack. 

No offshore knock off parts here!! Made in the USA!!

This is one of the early Pre-Bee engines that could fly inverted and was considered to be one of the “Performance Series” (Tim Daniels – “Cox Model Engine Handbook” – buy it).

Made in 1953 to 1958 it was prior to the “Bee” series. Cox pretty much put the other small engine makers out of business with the “Bees” which reduced manufacturing costs, but still offered great quality.

The Thermal Hopper still benefited from the excellent piston to liner fits inherent in most Cox engines. Good enough that you could swap a new piston from one engine to a cylinder in another and still have a decent fit.

This engine has been disassembled, cleaned and had any defects repaired. Piston ball socket has been reset. Gaskets and prop nut are new.

It has been test run, is an eager hand starter and easy to needle.

I test run all of my engines and guarantee that they will hand start easily (hot or cold) and run well if good fuel and a fresh battery are used. 

The needle has a piece of silicon tubing as a seal to promote steady engine runs. 

The original tension spring will be included for those who wish to have the original equipment. 

The fuel should have at least 20% nitromethane and 25% castor oil. 

The photos are of the actual engine being offered. 

The 5x3 K&B propeller used for test runs is included with the motor.

No surprises or disappointments!
