Alpine Peasant Ware is a style of hand-painted German folk art pottery that originated in West Germany during the early to mid-20th century.  The motif is associated with Bavarian and Alpine folk traditions.  This cup and saucer set features a dancing couple in traditional German dirndl and lederhosen. Accented with floral patterns in vivid colors and sponge-like stippling effect in an overall folk-art design.

Condition:

• Good Clean Vintage Condition. Pre-Loved. Age-related crazing throughout the pieces (fine crackling in the glaze). Small chip on one cup. Marks and wear from use. Other marks and imperfections, part of the ceramic making process. The unglazed area on the bottom has marks, stains.  Each item is hand-painted and therefore one-of-a-kind. 
• Alpine Peasant Ware is produced by a variety of German stoneware manufacturers. Unable to fully trace origin story. Likely produced either by Ironstone Peasant Ware or SB Alpine Ironstone, likely before the division of German. Circa 1920-1930.
