This Antique Chinese Silver Tea Set is a stunning 4-piece set crafted in silver, dating back to around 1890. There is a matching teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug along sugar tongs with the pot, jug and bowl weighing around 978g.
The detail is stunning on each piece with two dragons in relief chasing the sacred pearl around the spout. The lids and handles each have ornate dragon heads with smoke coming from their nostrils. The base of the tea pot and sugar bowl still show the chop marks of the original craftsman. Their provenance goes back to the late 1960s, while the style suggests that they were crafted around 1890.
The spring steel of the tongs is cracked and some of the smoke tendrils are not as the maker intended, but overall, this is a beautiful set which any collector would be delighted with.
