The 1960–61 season was the 62nd completed season of The Football League. Newcastle United finished in 21st position and were relegated to the Second Division and Birmingham City ended in 19th place. Tottenham Hotspur won the First Division title for the second time in the club's history, eight points clear of second-placed Sheffield Wednesday. This remains their last league title.
