High-end & Nice Patina
1829 Capped Bust Half Dollar
1829/1827 O-101 Over-date
NGC VF30
This die marriage is difficult to grade, as its always soft on the cap, cheek, and bust line, making a lightly worn Choice XF look like a CH VF, at least when you look at the obverse. The sharp XF+ reverse and the hard, lustrous fields, high rims, and moderate underlying cartwheel over both sides, tells a different story. Only lightly circulated, and of the quality typically slabbed to XF45 on a good day. Regardless, the appealing, original, warm pearl grey surfaces are lined with fiery orange, sky blue, and mauve gold hues. Free from spots and hairlines.
Actually an 1829/1827 overdate, with strong recutting on "182" and a bold stand of a "7" shows within the loop of the "9."
